I've been hearing about RSS Feeds for quite some time, but have never taken advantage of them. It is a nice option to be able to pull together updates from news sites or websites into one place to review instead of having to go to each source separately. In my personal life, I am not sure that I would have much use for this application, but it may be helpful in my professional life. I could possibly see me using it to keep up with library literature, etc.
As far as applications for our patrons, I think patrons would love to get updates regarding system events and new material in the collection (within a subject category or format). For patrons that already use a feed reader, it would be an efficient way to keep up with what is new at the library. We need to tap into this new technology in as many ways as possible!
I will have to experiment with this a little more before a declare myself a big fan of RSS feeds!
